Jesus the Lord by Roc O'Connor - Saint Louis Jesuits - with lyrics

Jesus the Lord by Roc O'Connor, S.J.
Based on Jesus Prayer:
Phil, 2:5-11; Acts, 17:28

1...Let all creation bend the knee to the Lord.
In Him we live, we move and have our being;
In Him the Christ, In Him the King!
Jesus the Lord.

2...Though Son, He did not cling to Godliness,
But emptied Himself, became a slave!
Jesus the Lord.

3...He lived obediently His Father's will
Accepting His death, death on a cross!
Jesus the Lord.

A Community Prayer
Leader: Let us open our minds to The Lord
To the Presence of God
People: We know what it is to live in God's presence
as His people
Leader: Ours is a God of Life
leading us to the unexplored,
fresh territory everyday.
People: We seek abundant life-
life that is lived to the fullest extent
Leader: Let us commit ourselves to a searching out and a following
of God's will for us this day and all the days of our lives.
People:In the spirit of search and commitment,
Let us worship God.

Reader: Isaiah 43:1-5

Isaiah 43

New International Version (NIV)

Israel’s Only Savior

43 But now, this is what the Lord says—
    he who created you, Jacob,
    he who formed you, Israel:
“Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have summoned you by name; you are mine.
When you pass through the waters,
    I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers,
    they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire,
    you will not be burned;
    the flames will not set you ablaze.
For I am the Lord your God,
    the Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I give Egypt for your ransom,
    Cush[a] and Seba in your stead.
Since you are precious and honored in my sight,
    and because I love you,
I will give people in exchange for you,
    nations in exchange for your life.
Do not be afraid, for I am with you;
    I will bring your children from the east
    and gather you from the west.

Luke 4:16-22

Luke 4:16-22

New International Version (NIV)
16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
    because he has anointed me
    to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
    and recovery of sight for the blind,
to set the oppressed free,
19     to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]
20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilledin your hearing.”
22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.
