Jewish Federations Petition Pope to Help Free Alan Gross February 28, 2012 The Jewish Federations of North America is calling for support for an online petition urging Pope Benedict XVI to seek the release of Alan Gross during the upcoming papal visit to Cuba.
The petition is part of a nationwide appeal by the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington to free Washington D.C.-area resident Gross, who was arrested in Cuba in December 2009. The JCRC of Greater Washington is a partner agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington.
Gross was imprisoned while conducting humanitarian activities in Cuba. He was convicted by a Cuban court for "actions against the integrity of the State," and sentenced to 15 years in prison. Since his arrest, Gross has reportedly lost around 100 pounds and is suffering from several ailments.
"We continue to urge the release of Mr. Gross on humanitarian grounds," said Michael Gelman, chair of the JFNA Executive Committee. "We stand in solidarity with the North American Jewish community in our hope that Alan can soon be reunited with his family after two long years of imprisonment."
JFNA respectfully requests that you sign this petition at
"The Gross family continues to suffer greatly — physically, economically, emotionally and spiritually — and we must do everything we can to bring this to an end," said Ron Halber, executive director of the JCRC of Greater Washington. "Please help us fulfill the primary Jewish value of pidyon shivuim, redemption of the captive."

Jewish Federations, along with other groups including the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, has been calling for Cuba to free Gross and for the United States to advocate for Gross as well. Gross's wife, Judy, spoke at JFNA's General Assembly in 2011 in Denver.

Dear Archbishop,
We, the undersigned, seek your assistance, as most esteemed ambassador of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to the United States, in raising a matter of utmost importance with His Holiness in anticipation of his upcoming visit to Cuba. Since December 2009, Alan P. Gross, a 62 year old American international development worker, has been imprisoned in Cuba for his efforts to help the Cuban Jewish community improve its access to the internet. Prior to his arrest, Alan’s life was dedicated to improving the lives of others, particularly those less fortunate. He worked in more than 50 countries—including Iraq, Afghanistan, Africa and Haiti—and never had any legal trouble in any of the countries he worked in or visited, until now.
Alan and his wife of over 40 years, Judy Gross, reside in the Washington, DC area and have two daughters—Shira (27) and Nina (24). Since his arrest, Alan’s physical and emotional health have deteriorated significantly. He has lost over 100 pounds and has developed a number of serious health issues that are cause for great concern. But more importantly, he is beginning to lose hope. Alan’s family has also faced a number of health crises since his arrest, including his 89-year old mother’s ongoing battle with lung cancer. She fears she may not live long enough to see him again. Alan and his family are suffering tremendously as a result of their separation. In addition, they are facing significant financial hardship due to the loss of Alan’s income.
Accordingly, we, the undersigned, most humbly request that whatever efforts necessary be made so that Pope Benedict XVI can obtain Alan’s release from prison on humanitarian grounds during his upcoming visit to Cuba on March 26-28, 2012.
With every good wish to Your Excellency.
Sincerely,
We are confident that any such efforts made by the Pope to gain Alan’s release will not only be enormously appreciated by the Gross family and the United States government, but by all communities of faith and the international community as a whole.

Psalm 17

A prayer of David.
 1 Hear me, LORD, my plea is just;
   listen to my cry.
Hear my prayer—
   it does not rise from deceitful lips.
2 Let my vindication come from you;
   may your eyes see what is right.

 3 Though you probe my heart,
   though you examine me at night and test me,
you will find that I have planned no evil;
   my mouth has not transgressed.
4 Though people tried to bribe me,
   I have kept myself from the ways of the violent
   through what your lips have commanded.
5 My steps have held to your paths;
   my feet have not stumbled.

 6 I call on you, my God, for you will answer me;
   turn your ear to me and hear my prayer.
7 Show me the wonders of your great love,
   you who save by your right hand
   those who take refuge in you from their foes.
8 Keep me as the apple of your eye;
   hide me in the shadow of your wings
9 from the wicked who are out to destroy me,
   from my mortal enemies who surround me.

 10 They close up their callous hearts,
   and their mouths speak with arrogance.
11 They have tracked me down, they now surround me,
   with eyes alert, to throw me to the ground.
12 They are like a lion hungry for prey,
   like a fierce lion crouching in cover.

 13 Rise up, LORD, confront them, bring them down;
   with your sword rescue me from the wicked.
14 By your hand save me from such people, LORD,
   from those of this world whose reward is in this life.
May what you have stored up for the wicked fill their bellies;
   may their children gorge themselves on it,
   and may there be leftovers for their little ones.

 15 As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face;
   when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness

We have hope and comfort because we know we can pray to God and He hears our prayers!
He saves us by His right hand-Jesus and through Him we have Hope and Salvation Blessing and Favour Amen!Thank You Lord Jesus May You be Praised forever Amen!

Psalm 16

1 Keep me safe, my God,
   for in you I take refuge.

 2 I say to the LORD, “You are my Lord;
   apart from you I have no good thing.”
3 I say of the holy people who are in the land,
   “They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”
4 Those who run after other gods will suffer more and more.
   I will not pour out libations of blood to such gods
   or take up their names on my lips.

 5 LORD, you alone are my portion and my cup;
   you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places;
   surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the LORD, who counsels me;
   even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the LORD.
   With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.

 9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
   my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead,
   nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life;
   you will fill me with joy in your presence,
   with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

The Lord Jesus Is our Salvation Our Portion Our Cup.He is to be Praised forever!He is Our Counselor and Instructs us how to live.He is our inheritance.Through Him we have Life.
It says with God at my right Hand I will not be shaken.I am established through Him and His works. When hand is used in scripture it is in reference to works.Right means favour and goodness. So through God's goodness and favour by His works I am saved and established on earth and in heaven.
When the scripture says You will not let your faithfull one see decay it prophesied of God's promised to raise Jesus from the dead and not allow Him to decay.It was this promise that Jesus was raised to life on the third day that we know scripture was fullfilled Jesus was faithfull and completed the work and through Him we have hope of everlasting Life!Amen Praise Jesus!:)

Psalm 15

Psalm 15

A psalm of David.  1 LORD, who may dwell in your sacred tent?
   Who may live on your holy mountain?

 2 The one whose walk is blameless,
   who does what is righteous,
   who speaks the truth from their heart;
3 whose tongue utters no slander,
   who does no wrong to a neighbor,
   and casts no slur on others;
4 who despises a vile person
   but honors those who fear the LORD;
who keeps an oath even when it hurts,
   and does not change their mind;
5 who lends money to the poor without interest;
   who does not accept a bribe against the innocent.

   Whoever does these things
   will never be shaken.

When this psalm asks the question who shall dwell on your Holy Mountain, the mountain always refers to kingdoms in scripture so it asks -Whoever is The righteous and blameless one that dwells in your kingdom?
The answer is through Jesus The one who makes us righteous and blameless we have hope of dwelling in God's Kingdom-Amen!

Psalm 14

Psalm 14

 1 The fool says in his heart,
   “There is no God.”
They are corrupt, their deeds are vile;
   there is no one who does good.

 2 The LORD looks down from heaven
   on all mankind
to see if there are any who understand,
   any who seek God.

We must always be ready to acknowledge God and share our faith with others.We must seek God and He is faithfull and will reveal Himself.If any are willing- Pray to Jesus to ask Him to reveal Himself and salvation to you!He will show you He cares Trust in The Lord Jesus!Amen
3 All have turned away, all have become corrupt;
   there is no one who does good,
   not even one.

When it says this we must acknowledge all have sinned and fall short of the Glory of God but there is HOPE and our HOPE IS JESUS who saves us by giving to us HIS righteousness His goodness to us so that we are able to be in the kingdom of The Lord. Jesus said "There is none good but God alone is good." He -Jesus fullfilled the law perfectly and lived that life for us so that we who have sinned may be cleansed by the shed blood of Jesus on the cross.We can be baptised into His death and Resurrection to LIFE EVERLASTING through Jesus qualifying us as HIS own!We can be forgiven and renewed through THE POWER of THE HOLY SPIRIT!
 4 Do all these evildoers know nothing?
   They devour my people as though eating bread;
   they never call on the LORD.
5 But there they are, overwhelmed with dread,
   for God is present in the company of the righteous.
6 You evildoers frustrate the plans of the poor,
   but the LORD is their refuge.

 7 Oh, that salvation for Israel would come out of Zion!
   When the LORD restores his people,
   let Jacob rejoice and Israel be glad!
-Let us THANK GOD that HE IS FAITHFULL to His Word!Amen  The salvation for Israel out of Zion IS JESUS He came to this earth for Israel and the gentiles who needed salvation! The Lord was faithfull to all His scriptural promises,He has restored His people Israel as a nation-May God be praised! He will renew His people through The Power of The Holy Spirit He will baptise them in Himself and save them.Elohim-The Holy Trinity Father Son Holy Spirit IS OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR AMEN!

Psalm 13

Psalm 13 verse 5 , 6
5 But I trust in your unfailing love;
   my heart rejoices in your salvation.
6 I will sing the LORD’s praise,
   for he has been good to me.

I thank God that He sent Jesus and shows us His unfailing love towards all mankind! We should all rejoice knowing our salvation is through Christ Jesus our Messiah! Let Jesus be praised forever! Thank you Lord Jesus for being good to me and my family and my city and nation.Thank you for watching over us delivering us providing us with your salvation and blessing!Thankyou Amen.

Psalm 12

Psalm 12
1 Help, LORD, for no one is faithful anymore;
   those who are loyal have vanished from the human race.

We should all pray to God to help us be faithfull.Let us be established through Christ Jesus here on earth.
2 Everyone lies to their neighbor;
   they flatter with their lips
   but harbor deception in their hearts.

I pray that Jesus guards  my heart and keeps me from deception. The heart is the mind the will and the emotions so I need to keep my thoughts my decisions and choices on your word Jesus.I shouldn't be making only emotional decision making but rather line my thinking up with what the word of God says about any matter so I know what the truth is and can discern the right thing to do in any situation and therefore avoid the deception and false worldly system that is so pervasive today.
 3 May the LORD silence all flattering lips
   and every boastful tongue—

flattery does not get us everywhere!Honesty and being genuine is more important.
4 those who say,
   “By our tongues we will prevail;
   our own lips will defend us—who is lord over us?”

 5 “Because the poor are plundered and the needy groan,
   I will now arise,” says the LORD.
   “I will protect them from those who malign them.”
Thank God he protects and watches over us and brings restoration where there has formerly been injustice.This can give us hope when at times life seems to be unfair when it makes you wonder why some who flatter or unjustly get promoted seem to have advantage but when we look at the long term bigger picture their success is only temporary where as in the long run when we are patient for God to work in our situation and circumstances when He promotes us and establishes us no one can take that away.God brings justice to every situation,we just have to trust and wait for His timing.He sees all and knows all.
6 And the words of the LORD are flawless,
   like silver purified in a crucible,
   like gold refined seven times.

 7 You, LORD, will keep the needy safe
   and will protect us forever from the wicked,
8 who freely strut about
   when what is vile is honored by the human race.

We need to make sure we are honouring and giving respect to the right things.Putting God at the top of our priority list to Honour and respect Him first and foremost and exulting Jesus. Then when we have our priorities in check then we can focus our attention on giving recognition to those persons who live according to God's principles and bring about goodness love meekness mercy and grace kindness and help to others.That is more in line with what we should give recognition to.People who do a good service in this life not superficial people who act out just to seek attention for attentions sake.To often we are focusing in our culture those who don't use morals to succeed and don't have any discernable talent.As a culture we need a paradigm shift to focus on the people who matter who can have a positive rather than negative influence.
The biblical advisement through the psalms is as relevant today as it ever was we need it more so now I think! Its a kind of warning that your results/consequences you get out of this life is based on what you think.
The old addage What you think can achieve What you believe is what you get!Its true. Some call it "The Secret" but when has this ever been a secret?God made it plain. What you put as your priority,What you think of guides your emotions and often your emotions guide you will your choices and as a result your actions. So basically if we want good results and blessings we have to Make God and His Word our priority and give it highest place.Thinking that way letting it guide our emotions making our choices based on that then we get the positive results and outcome of blessings. If we all did this more our culture would be impacted and we could use our discernment to focus on positive and get a better more blessed society.
